Demyship in Indonesia

In Indonesia, this type of scholarship (demyship) I'd never met / heard. However, several State and private universities are well known often held several test phases to provide scholarships. Procurement of common tests performed before the routine tests performed generally once a year. University other than a few large companies are also doing the same thing. Usually done at the time of graduation season. this is done to capture the young workers who accomplished.

Demyship

A demyship (or demy) is a form of scholarship, specifically at Magdalen College, Oxford. Oscar Wilde, Lewis Gielgud, Lord Denning and T. E. Lawrence were famous recipients. It is derived from demi-socii or half-fellows. Magdalen's founder, William of Waynflete, originally provided them for the College. Recipients (known as demies) are still admitted to the College's Foundation as well as being able to attend certain special ceremonies and dinners. Recent demies include the historian Niall Ferguson and George Osborne.
When the College of St Mary Magdalen was founded in the reign of King Henry VI by William of Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester, the Founder ordained that in addition to forty senior scholars, or Fellows, there should be thirty Poor Scholars, commonly called Demies, of good morals and dispositions fully equipped for study.

Athletic scholarship In Indonesia

In Indonesia, the scholarship of this kind rarely encountered but usually there is a special mechanism to obtain it. In general, athletes are still in school or college curriculum uses different systems than the usual curriculum. This is based on the time of the game or competition like the Olympic, Asian Games, Sea Games, PON, PORDA and others. In this mechanism the athletes get a scholarship or compensation costs of education.

Athletic scholarship

An athletic scholarship is a form of scholarship to attend a college or university awarded to an individual based predominantly on his or her ability to play in a sport. Athletic scholarships are common in the United States, but in many countries they are rare or non-existent.

In United State
In the United States, athletic scholarships are largely regulated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, which sets minimum standards for both the individuals awarded the scholarships (in terms of GPAs and standardized test scores) and for the institutions granting them (in terms of the form and value of the scholarships and the proportion of recipients who must ultimately earn degrees).
In 1973, the NCAA split its membership into three divisions: Division I, Division II, and Division III. Under NCAA rules, Division I and Division II schools can offer scholarships to athletes for playing a sport. Division III schools may not offer any athletic scholarships. Generally, larger schools compete in Division I and smaller schools in II and III.

Division I football is further divided into the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS, formerly I-A) and Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, formerly I-AA). The two differ in several ways:
* Postseason system: FBS uses postseason bowl games, while FCS uses a 16-team single elimination playoff.
* Number of football scholarships: FBS schools are allowed 85 players receiving athletic aid, while FCS schools are allowed 63 scholarships. The wording is a very important distinction for another reason.
* Awarding of partial scholarships: Because each player receiving athletic aid for football counts fully against an FBS team's scholarship limit, this effectively means that all players awarded football scholarships at FBS schools receive full scholarships. On the other hand, FCS schools are allowed to divide their 63 scholarships among no more than 85 individual players.

Some schools or leagues permitted by the NCAA to award athletic scholarships nevertheless prohibit them among their students. An example is the Ivy League, which is part of Division I FCS. The three service academies that participate in Division I FBS football (Army, Navy, and Air Force) are exempt from NCAA scholarship limits because all students at those schools, whether or not they are varsity athletes, receive full scholarships from the service branch that operates the academy.
Institutions that engage in misconduct may be stripped of the ability to award a certain number of athletic scholarships. The ultimate penalty, the suspension of an entire athletic program from participation for a set period of time, is popularly known as "The Death Penalty"; it has only been levied three times: against Kentucky basketball in 1952, Southwestern Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette) basketball in 1973, and SMU football in 1986.

In Canada
In Canada, for instance, Canadian Interuniversity Sport rules ban all entrance scholarships for athletics, and athletes can only get funding once they enter their second year of school. Even then, the amount is based on the total team due to Ceiling Rules (Not one student can receive the bulk of the award, it has to be shared among his team members equally). It is not capped as previously mentioned. Ontario, which is home to many of Canada's largest universities, has even stricter rules. Less than a quarter of CIS athletes receive scholarships for their abilities. A major consequence of this is that many of Canada's top young athletes go to a university in the United States, where they can get much larger scholarships. This also may be one reason that two schools in the Vancouver area have attempted to petition to enter the NCAA in recent years. Simon Fraser University unsuccessfully tried to enter the NCAA in 2000 and was affiliated to the NCAA on July 10th 2009, while the University of British Columbia is currently seeking NCAA membership.

* Note - As stated on the CIS website:
• tuition and compulsory fees is the maximum amount you can receive for athletic-related awards in an academic year, including athletic-related bursaries.
• the value and quantity of athletic-related awards and bursaries available varies from institution to institution.
• specific awards and bursaries may have additional conditions, such as academic success and citizenship, beyond what is stated here.
• many awards, such as academic awards or awards provided by Sport Governing Bodies or the Federal and Provincial Governments, are not included within the tuition and compulsory fees maximum; please consult your Athletic Department.
• you are eligible to receive an award or bursary at the beginning of your first year (September) at a university if you have a minimum entering average of 80% or equivalent.
• alternatively, you are eligible to receive an award at the end of your first year at a university (spring or summer) if you satisfy CIS academic requirements with at least a 65% average or equivalent.

Thereafter, you are eligible to receive an award at the beginning of any year if you satisfy CIS academic requirements with at least a 65% average or equivalent in the preceding year.

In United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom entrance scholarships based on sporting ability are not traditional, though contrary to popular belief they are not actually banned. Sporting ability may be taken into account in admission for places on degrees in subjects such as sports science, and at the discretion of admissions staff sporting achievements may be taken into account on choosing candidates based on their ability to make an all round contribution to the institution in the same way as achievements in any other non-academic area. Students who are elite standard sports competitors are eligible for financial support from bodies such as UK Sport on the same basis as anyone else. Certain universities have a strong emphasis on sport, including Loughborough University and the University of Bath, each of which hosts a number of nationally funded training facilities. Some universities may make bursaries available to top student athletes, though these are generally not large. Some British students take athletic scholarships at American universities, a trend which is particularly noticeable in golf. Many top British golfers are graduates of American universities including Colin Montgomerie, Luke Donald and Paul Casey.

Education is expensive

It's all going to look different things according to our perspective to see, but all will seem easy when we are spirit and trying hard to reach.

Every human being is born into this world has the right to obtain a decent education. Starting from the basic, such as education obtained through a teaching mechanism. and the non-basic education that is gained from life experiences, social interaction and others. Non-basic education, can be absorbed over time and balanced way of thinking acquired through basic education.

Basic education starting from kindergarten, primary schools, secondary schools and over until the level of courses must be obtained well. Although education has been provided by the government, but not all of them can be obtained free of charge. Education must be obtained by providing some compensation funds should be submitted to support the education system. But not all communities are able to meet these obligations. most of them only up to primary school level or at the most only at the first school-level course this will significantly affect the quality of life of society itself. This is where education can be described as something expensive.

Local scholarships

It is typical for persons to find scholarships in their home region. Information on these can be found by asking local persons and organizations. Typically, these are less competitive as the eligible population is smaller.

* Guidance counselors: When starting to explore scholarship opportunities, most high school
students check with their guidance counselors. They can be a reliable resource for local
scholarships.
* Non-profit organizations and Charitable trusts: Most non-profit organizations have at some
point of their history founded scholarships for prospective students. The Good Schools
Guide, a guide to schools in the UK, states "Charitable grant-making trusts can help
in cases of genuine need," and goes on to outline several instances where this may be
the case, including an "unforseen family disaster" and a "need for special education".
* Community foundations: Many counties and cities and regions have a local foundation
dedicated to giving money in the form of grants and scholarships to people and
organizations in the area.
* Foundations: Certain Foundations in the United States offer scholarships for
Entrepreneurial Endeavors.
* Labor unions: All the major labor unions offer scholarships for members and their
dependent children.
* Houses of worship: The local house of worship may or may not have any scholarships for
their members, but the religious organization or headquarters may have some available.
Of course, theology study is highly encouraged.
* Chamber of commerce: Many chambers of commerce offer (usually small) grants to
students in the community, especially those planning on careers in business and public
service. Even if they do not offer any themselves, one can usually get a listing of members,
and many of them may offer small scholarships to local students.
* Other volunteer organizations: Many organizations offer scholarships or award grants to
students whose background or chosen field overlaps the field of the organization. For
example, local chapters of professional societies may help the studies of exceptionally
distinguished students of the region. Similarly, charity organizations may offer help,
especially if the late parent of the student was a member of the organization
(e.g., a Masonic lodge might help the orphan of a lodge brother.) This kind of scholarship
is mostly ad hoc.
* School: Old, well-known schools are often endowed with scholarship funds.
* University: Old, well-established universities may have funds to finance the studies of
extremely talented students of little means. To be eligible, a student often must belong
to some special category or be among a nation's best. However, universities have information
available on scholarships and grants, possibly even internship opportunities.
* PSAT/NMSQT: In the United States, students are offered the opportunity to take the
PSAT/NMSQT test, usually in their junior year of high school. Not only does it help them to
prepare for the SAT later on, but National Merit Scholarship programs are determined, in
the first step, by the scores received on the PSAT/NMSQT test. Some private
scholarship programs require applicants to take the PSAT.

Scholarship & The Type

A scholarship is an award of financial aid for a student to further education. Scholarships are awarded on various criteria usually reflecting the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the award.

Types
The most common scholarships may be classified as:
* Merit-based: These awards are based on a student's athletic, academic, artistic or other abilities, and often factor in an applicant's community service record and extracurricular activities. The most common merit-based scholarships, awarded by either private organizations or directly by a student's intended college, recognize academic achievement or high scores on the ACT and SAT standardized tests.
* Need-based: These awards are based on the student and family's financial record and will require applicants to fill out a FAFSA to qualify if the scholarship is a federal award. Private need-based scholarships will also often require the results of a FAFSA, which calculates a student's financial need through a formula looking at the expected family contribution and cost of attendance at the intended college.
* Student-specific: These are scholarships where applicants must initially qualify by race, gender, religion, family and medical history, or many other student-specific factors. Minority scholarships are the most common awards in this category, and not all are based in the United States. For example, students in Canada may qualify for a number of aboriginal scholarships, whether they study at home or abroad.
* Career-specific: These are scholarships awarded by a college or university to students planning to pursue a specific field of study. Often the most generous awards are given to students pursuing careers in high-need areas such as education or nursing. Nursing students are in high demand, and many schools will give future nurses full scholarships to enter the field, especially if the student intends to work in a high-need community.

Some scholarships have a "bond" requirement. Recipients may be required to work for a particular employer for a specified period of time or to work in rural or remote areas; otherwise they may be required to repay the value of the support they received from the scholarship. This is particularly the case with education and nursing scholarships for people prepared to work in rural and remote areas. The programs offered by the uniformed services of the United States (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration commissioned corps, and Public Health Service Commissioned Corps) sometimes resemble such scholarships.

From author

Almost all high school students around the world want the best education, but the condition of some countries do not allow for this. Went to school in another country is one solution, but some students have difficulty, especially funding issues. Government assisted with various private parties have a scholarship program, which students have passed the selection will be funded through their studies in overseas. Not easy for students to be able to obtain scholarships, in addition to smart of course, they are also required to proficient in English and easy to socialize.
